If you do, and you’re considering switching your ISP (Internet Service Provider), you will almost certainly want to make sure you ask them for a static IP when you place your order.
A static IP gives you a “permanent” address on the Internet – which is necessary if you’re running Exchange, FTP, or VPN.
All too frequently, ISPs do not mention adding a static IP when you are placing your order for new service. Failing to order a static IP up-front can sometimes delay your new service install date by several weeks!
